General Secretary of the National Workers Union, Felix Anthony

The General Secretary of the National Workers Union, Felix Anthony was told to “keep out of trouble” before he was granted bail by Suva Magistrate Waleen George this afternoon.

Anthony has also been told not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.

He is charged with malicious acts under the Public Order Act.

According to the charge read in court, on 26th April this year Anthony allegedly spread by word of mouth false news relating to the expiry of Water Authority of Fiji worker contracts to Fiji Times reporter Felix Chaudhry which tended to create or foster public anxiety.

DPP lawyer, Rajneel Kumar did not object to bail.

He also advised the court that they have served the first phase of disclosures.

Anthony is represented by lawyer, Filimoni Vosarogo.

The case has been adjourned to 15th August this year.
