Tracey Ann Farrington has won the Vodafone Fiji Fashion Week Best Designer at the National Fashion Awards.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Farrington says a lot of commitment and dedication is required to produce and display the best design during the Fiji Fashion Week but with all the support from her team members and family, emerged the success of her commercial business.

Farrington says fashion has been her dream since she was young and she hopes as a senior fashion designer within this industry, she will pass on her experiences and education to emerging designers and help fuel the strength of Fiji's fashion industry.

Farrington also opened her store at Plantation Island Resort called Beach Shack on September 10th last year.

Temesia Tuicaumia bagged the Best Men’s Wear and People’s Choice Awards at the National Fashion Awards.

Tuicaumia says his passion drives his dream to pursue a career as a fashion designer and he hopes that it will encourage the young generation to venture into fashion.

He says fashion is something that is lacking in our education system and young children need to be exposed to fashion where they can utilise the resources and focus on sustainability.

Meanwhile, Yat Sen Secondary School Year 12 student Samara Hughes won the Best Female Model of the Year while Kavekini Boselawa won the Best Male Model Award.

Managing Director of Fiji Fashion Week, Ellen Whippy-Knight says such awards are to recognize the efforts of the designers which creates healthy competition in the industry.

Whippy-Knights says every designer comes out with the best pieces and she hopes that many more people will venture into the fashion industry in the future.
