Although the FijiFirst Party has said publicly over the past few months that the migration statistics of those leaving the country after the coalition government came into office is seriously alarming this year, the Fiji Bureau of Statistics show that a higher number of people left the country in 2018, 2019, and last year.

1,571 people have migrated from January to June this year while 5,335 Fijians left our shores for greener pastures last year.

In 2018, 4,944 citizens left Fiji, 5,365 in 2019, and 1,016 in 2020.

In 2021, 1,193 people left Fiji.

When questioned on fijivillage Straight Talk With Vijay Narayan on why the FijiFirst Party, when in government, was sending people home for speaking out against the government, Leader of the Opposition, Inia Seruiratu says there is no proof that there is no fear in government now.

He then made the claim about migration before raising concerns about politicians involved in operational issues.
