The Fiji Roads Authority has awarded the maintenance contract for the Central Division to the China Railway Fifth Group.
This has been confirmed by FRA CEO Jonathan Moore who says that FRA runs three maintenance contracts throughout Fiji which is the Central, Western and Northern Division.
He says the Central and Northern contracts were awarded to Fulton Hogan Hiways which started in 2013 with for over a four year period.
Moore says FRA had granted an extension for one year while organizing for the new contract for the Central Division.
He said they had issued a tender for the contractors to put a price for their work and the contractors submitted their tenders with China Railway Fifth Group offering a much better offer than any other contractor did.
FRA CEO says they assess tenders based on many factors such as capacity of the contractor, quality of work, contractor’s ability to understand the work required and the price.
Moore said the amount of work that they are planning to do in the future would be more than what they were currently doing which would require more people.
The China Railway Fifth Group begins work in January next year.
