The Elections Office is now working on ensuring that the ballot paper for the 2014 general elections is the right size to fit about 300 numbers.
Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem said tests are already underway with different fonts and paper sizes.
Saneem said the ballot paper design to be followed is the one sampled in the Electoral Decree which is just numbers in boxes.
When people go to vote on Election Day, they just have to tick, cross or circle one candidate’s number.
The National Candidates List will be published by the Elections Office by the 25th of August after the candidate’s nomination period.
The candidate’s numbers will be determined after the numbers are drawn by the Elections Office.
Saneem said they are planning to print between 700,000 to 1 million copies of the National Candidates List booklets.
Meanwhile the Fiji Labour Party, the Social Democratic and Liberal Party, the National Federation Party and the People’s Democratic Party want the ballot paper to include the candidates’ names and party symbols.
They have written to the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Chen Bunn Young.

He is yet to comment.
Fijivillage has also sent questions to the Attorney General and the Minister for Elections, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
He is yet to respond.
