Ecstasy tablets also found aboard Australian couple's yacht

A package containing ecstasy tablets was also found on board the yacht of Australian couple Yvette and John Nikolic.

This was heard in court today as the fifth prosecution witness Senior Customs Officer Josua Volau took the stand.

Volau who is the Officer in Charge of Customs Maritime Surveillance in Lautoka was one of the Officers that boarded the yacht on 22nd June, 2018.

Volau told the court that after finding 10 bars of cocaine they conducted further searches in the cabin and found two more packages which contained guns and ammunition as well as three bundles of US currency all in the form of 100 dollar bills.

The couple is jointly charged with two counts of possession of illicit drugs, one count of possession of arms and ammunition without a licence and two counts of unlawful importation of illicit drugs.

It is alleged that the couple had imported 12.9 kilograms of cocaine and 34.4 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated value of between $20 million to $30 million.

It is also alleged that they failed to declare that they had in their possession two pistols with 112 rounds of live ammunition.
