It is a double celebration for Sharon Margaret Nainoca, who tied the knot yesterday and is now celebrating Mother’s Day with her husband.

Nainoca is from Ravitaki Village in Kadavu.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Nainoca says today marks a new beginning for her as she embarks on married life.

She adds this day will always remind her of the value of mothers and their vital role in the family.

Irinimo Toanikeve from Korovou Village in Naitasiri says he came to the market to buy a gift for his wife by selling produce such as dalo, cassava, and bananas.

Toanikeve says mothers play an important role in the family, and their sacrifices should be acknowledged.

The 58-year-old is urging men not to abuse their partners, saying women are helpers and pillars in the family.

He adds that just as men love and care for their bodies, the same respect and care should be extended to women.

Meanwhile, Akuila Batibota from Vatulili Village in Naitasiri extended well wishes to all mothers, especially single mothers who also play the role of fathers in their families.

He also acknowledged their perseverance and dedication to providing food and meeting their families’ daily needs.

Batibota adds that many women face challenges silently and never share what they are going through, so we should all be grateful for their hard work.
