People of Labasa will be able to watch movies at the cinemas and go to a state of the art shopping mall in Labasa Town by 2018 when construction of the new Damodar City is completed.

Damodar Group Of Companies Chief Executive Div Damodar said construction of Damodar City Labasa will cost $10 million.

The project will create jobs for 70 to 100 people during construction and over 250 people will be employed once the center opens for trading.

He said Damodar City Labasa will be built on a newly sub divided land and therefore fresh surveys and civil engineering plans have been drawn up in order to obtain the formal tittle for the land.

The company is still waiting for the land tittle.

Damodar City Labasa will have two or three cinemas, two supermarkets, two large department stores, a food court, at least 20 retail shops, offices, a museum, a warehouse, a family fun center, car and machinery show room and a car park for 500 vehicles.

Damodar said they may also have a hotel in the building.

Damodar said they want to take the Suva experience to Labasa and the whole of the North.
