Estevao Willian struck deep into stoppage time to give Chelsea a 2-1 victory and condemn Liverpool to a third successive defeat.
Moisés Caicedo scored the first goal in the 14th minute and led 1-0 at half time.
Liverpool’s lone goal was scored by Cody Gakpo in the second half.
Chelsea's winning goal was greeted with wild celebrations that ended with coach Enzo Maresca being sent off.
In other matches this morning, Tottenham beat Leeds United 2-1, Arsenal beat West Ham 2-0 and Manchester United beat Sunderland 2-0.
Arsenal is currently leading the table with 16, Liverpool in second spot with 15 points, with 14 points each, Tottenham is third while Bournemouth rounds off the top 4.
