Joji Kaitani and Paula Nabuta.

The case against 28-year-old Viliame Kanatabua who is facing drug charges has been discontinued in the Suva High Court by High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo.

This is after the prosecution filed to discontinue the case in court today.

They did not inform the court why they were filing for a discontinuance.

However, the prosecution is continuing the case against suspended radio announcer Paula Nabuta and 21-year-old student Joji Kaitani.

Nabuta is separately charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs for allegedly possessing 6.342 kilograms of marijuana on the 28th of September.

Nabuta and Kaitani are charged with one count each of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

They were allegedly found with 912 grams of marijuana on the 28th of September.

It is alleged that the two were taken into custody after Police raided the car that Nabuta was driving.

It is also alleged several parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were seized from the vehicle.

A further search at Nabuta’s home led to the discovery of more parcels of marijuana.

Bail has been extended for the two men who are represented by lawyer Litia Vateitei of Astas Law.

The case will be called again on 24th December 2021.
