Defending champion, Labasa came from behind to draw 1-1 with Suva in the first match of the Pillay Garments Champion versus Champion Series at the ANZ Stadium last night.

Suva scored just in the third minute through a powerful drive from defender, Remueru Tekiate.

Labasa kept looking for the equaliser however Suva's goalkeeper, Atunaisa Naucukidi played extremely well and made a number of one on one saves.

Suva led 1-0 at half-time.

Labasa made couple of changes in the second half and also brought veteran player, Taniela Waqa off the bench.

Continuous pressure from Labasa saw Naucukidi making a bad mistake where he fouled Waqa inside Suva's penalty box.

Debutant, Marlon Tahioa made no mistake and scored for Labasa through the spot kick.

Suva now needs to get a goalless draw in the second match to win the CVC as they have scored an away goal.

Labasa will need to win the second match.

The two sides will now face off at 3pm tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium and you can catch the live commentary on Radio Sargam.
