A young female entrepreneur of Tailevu expands her jewellery business through Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) training sessions in collaboration with the MBA at the University of the South Pacific (USP).

Resident of Vanuadina, Tokatoka, Tailevu, who participated in the Business Assistance Fiji workshop today, says that through the BAF’s assistance in government grant form submissions, she was able to expand her business after COVID-19.

Young entrepreneur Atelaite Dolo says that through the government grant scheme for small businesses, she grew her jewellery-making venture, producing shell necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and more.

Dolo adds that the first governed grant of one thousand dollars helped her purchase the proper tools required, adding the second government grant assistance of five thousand dollars helped her buy more materials, improving the quality of her products and enhanced productivity.

She says she is grateful for Business Fiji’s Assistance help as it not only helps her send her three children to school but also allows her to study land surveying at Fiji National University.

Business Fiji Assistance Acting General Manager, Nitika Singh highlights that more than 70 percent of young women entrepreneurs sought assistance last month, adding that this is a positive indication that women are increasingly interested and encouraged to pursue business support.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Singh emphasizes that Business Fiji Assistance runs one-day workshops every month, providing training on human resources and policy, profit management, and digital tools.

She adds that Business Fiji Assistance supports micro-enterprises in financial preparations, business advisory services, and assistance with grants and grant applications.

Singh encouraged young women entrepreneurs to step forward and take advantage of the free training sessions provided by Business Fiji Assistance.
