Nadi will be a hive of activity as the much awaited Bula Festival begins today.
Association President Titilia Vuetaki said the festival will start with a march and float around midday and the official opening will take place tonight.
Vuetaki said the Bula Festival Association is hopeful it will be able to collect close to $150,000 as it wishes to assist the Nadi Town Council built a shelter for the market vendors who currently sleep on the corridor at night.
She said the old fire station close to the market will be renovated so that farmers who come from far away to sell their produce at the market can have a decent night’s sleep.
The association also intends to build an orphanage in Nadi as well as fence the Nadi Hospital.
