The Brumbies defeated the Queensland Reds 39-26 in a thriller in round 9 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific last night.

The Brumbies were trailing 14-0 in the first 20 minutes of the first half, but they managed to keep their cool with their first try coming from Rob Valetini to close the gap to a 7-point game.

Captain Allan Alaalatoa led by example, scoring the Brumbies second try to tie the match to 14-all, and Tuaina Taii Tualima scored before the break to put ACT ahead by 21-14 at half time.

Richie Asiata scored his second to close the gap to 19-21 at the start of the second half, but the Brumbies struck back with two tries from Billy Pollard to put them ahead.

Reds centre Dre Pakeho scored in the 79th minute of the game to give some consolation to the host, however, the Brumbies struck the final nail with a try to Corey Tool in the 80th minute of the game.

The win has moved the Brumbies to third place in the points table, with the Reds in fourth place.

In other matches yesterday, the Blues thumped Moana Pasifika 36-17, and the Highlanders beat the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua 43-20.
