BSP Financial Group Limited has completed its latest community project by installing a water tank with a filter, additional taps and a dedicated washbasin at Savusavu's oldest school, Kasavu Primary School.

BSP Country Head Haroon Ali says they were sad to learn that during the dry season, the school often faced prolonged periods of water cuts, while during the rainy season, water contamination was also a risk.

The project was adopted by the Savusavu branch to address the school’s challenges in collaboration with the school and the Ministry of Education.

Ali says each year, their branch community project program serves to enable their staff to give back to the local communities in line with the bank’s corporate value of community and the vanua.

He is proud of the staff who took on this project and volunteered their time and effort to complete it.

The Project handover was held during the school fundraising event or “Soli” to help fund the construction of an additional staff residence.

The head of Kasavu Primary School, Jitendra Sharma expressed his gratitude for the project and says they are thankful for the BSP staff’s support which has enabled students to come to school without having to worry about water disruptions.

Much more than that, they are witnessing a major drop in absenteeism because water contamination is no longer causing sickness in children.

BSP has done other similar projects around Fiji.

The bank donated $100,000 for the upgrade of CWM Hospital in Suva.

BSP operates Fiji’s largest banking network with 16 branches, 122 ATMs, and nearly 3000 EFTPOS terminals across the country, including rural and maritime areas.
