The amendment to the State Lands Act 1945 will assist many Fijians who have for years faced uncertainties in securing proper lease titles.

This was highlighted by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama while supporting the Bill.

Bainimarama says people will be provided the opportunity to safeguard their families’ lives and their future generation which reaffirms his Government’s commitment to leaving no one behind.

He also highlighted that this amendment allows Fijians who are currently residing on state lands and have obtained informal approvals, to formalize these arrangements.

Bainimarama also says his government has implemented legislative reforms and innovative strategies for the benefit for all Fijians adding these new measures were undertaken with extensive consultations.

The Bill has been passed in parliament.
