7 retired nurses join Diabetes Fiji to boost awareness and prevention

Seven retired nurses have volunteered their time and skills to help Diabetes Fiji expand its community health outreach.

Executive Director, Marawa Kini says the volunteers will be inducted as Diabetes Ambassadors to promote awareness, prevention, and support services in communities across Fiji.

Kini says their extensive experience and dedication to service are invaluable assets as Diabetes Fiji works to expand its community-based approach to health and wellness.

He says the retired nurses are based in the Central Division who will run community programs to advocate for lifestyle changes and better management of diabetes.

Kini further says they hope to replicate this initiative in the Western and Northern Divisions to offer wider outreach and provide much-needed mental health support for diabetes patients.

He adds that they are committed to ensuring the success of this program and making a real difference in the lives of Fijians living with or at risk of diabetes.
