Seven ambulances have been donated to the St John Association by the Racer Group Pty Ltd, with the aim of providing better and more efficient services to the people of Fiji.
Dr Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, National Executive Chairman and Interim CEO, emphasises that the donation will significantly enhance St John’s ability to respond to emergencies and deliver care to the public.
He adds that this marks the beginning of a modular approach being developed to extend services across Fiji, with a focus on expanding both sea and air capabilities.
Dr Raiwalui also highlights their ongoing collaboration with the Land Transport Authority, noting that they are following established guidelines.
He stresses that their core objective is to have trained personnel capable of transporting any patient requiring emergency care and ensuring access to hospital-based emergency services.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Shameem, Director of the Racer Group of Companies in Australia and Fiji, says the initiative is not just about vehicles and equipment, it is about dignity, care, and timely access to medical support.
He adds that too many families in communities have faced delays and difficulties when trying to reach medical help.
