Six remote schools across the interior of Viti Levu will now be able to access the internet from the comfort of their homes after the successful installation of Starlink.

The Education Ministry says this Government-led initiative, driven by the Coalition Government’s commitment to equitable digital access, ensures that students in even the most remote areas are not left behind.

The six schools include Nakorosule District School, Naivucini District School, Naboro Sawanikula School, Nawaisomo Primary School in Naitaisiri, Lewa SDA Primary School in Nadarivatu, and Natutale District School in Nadroga/Navosa.

The Ministry says these schools now benefit from high-speed, low-latency, and cost-effective internet, enabling them to access global educational resources and interactive learning platforms, conduct virtual lessons and teacher training programs, improve school administration using digital tools, strengthen STEM education and digital literacy for future-ready students, and leverage cloud calling and cloud-based applications for enhanced connectivity.

They say this milestone aligns with the Ministry’s vision and global initiatives led by UNICEF, ITU, and GIGA, which aim to connect every school in the world to the internet by 2030.

It says with a shared purpose, Fiji is empowering students, strengthening communities, and building a digitally inclusive future.
