53-year-old man sentenced to 14 years and 11 months in prison for raping his step daughter

A 53-year-old man has been sentenced for 14 years, 11 and a half months for raping his step daughter.

He had appeared before Judge Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo-Bull.

The man initially pleaded not guilty to nine representative counts of rape and the matter had proceeded to trial.

He was later acquitted to one count of rape.

He also informed the court that he intends to plead guilty.

The 53-year-old man had been raping his step daughter from 2013 to 2019.

The girl was 16 years old in 2013.

A non-parole period of 13 years has been fixed.
