23-year-old man arrested for allegedly assaulting police officer in Suva

A 23-year-old man from Nabua Topline has been arrested in Suva for allegedly assaulting a police officer on Waimanu Road yesterday.

Police say they received a report of a man causing trouble, and officers from the Central Division, K9 Unit, and Southern Division who were on patrol responded to the call.

The situation escalated when the 23-year-old allegedly assaulted one of the officers and fled to a nearby home.

Officers gave chase and managed to arrest the suspect.

The police officer sustained injuries during the alleged assault.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
