2 people charged with allegedly obtaining financial advantage by deception in Tavua

Two people have been charged with allegedly obtaining financial advantage by deception in Tavua.

Police say the first case investigated by the Fiji Police Cyber Task Force revealed that on the 3rd day of August 2023, the victim had sent $3000 to the accused, a 30-year-old woman residing in Lami for an online investment opportunity.

They say the victim failed to receive the returns of her investment and the incident was reported at the Tavua Police Station.

The accused was arrested and charged with one count of Obtaining Financial Advantage.

Police say in the second case, a 26-year-old man is alleged to have on the 24th of June 2023, dishonestly obtained $400 from the victim for an investment opportunity.

They say the victim failed to receive any feedback on the investment, a report was lodged at the Tavua Police Station.

The accused has been charged with one count of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception.

Both accused persons will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
