A 19-year-old man who stole about $400 worth of assorted items from a woman’s house in Navua will not face any jail time after being given a suspended sentence by the Suva High Court.
The woman found the items stolen on 20th December last year.
Tikiko Delai has been sentenced to 6 months’ imprisonment and this has been suspended for a period of 2 years.
If Delai is convicted of any other offence during the next two years the suspended sentence may be activated.
Delai pleaded guilty to one count of Aggravated Burglary .
In his sentence Justice Aruna Aluthge said Delai has promised not to reoffend and he begged for a second chance to rehabilitate himself.
Justice Aluthge also said that Delai cooperated with police and helped them to fully recover the stolen items.
The Judge also considered that Delai is a first offender.
