Good news as 100 patients from around Fiji will benefit from the eye surgeries conducted by China’s Guangdong Province medical team at the CWM Hospital.

Guangdong medical team leader, Professor Chen Weirong says this is their 4th visit to Fiji and they have conducted over 3,000 eye surgeries.

Professor Weirong says this aid will develop Fiji's health sector, help improve its medical conditions and provide more and better public health services for the Fijian people.

She says they will not only demonstrate excellent medical skills but also build friendly exchanges between the Chinese and the people of Pacific island countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Zhou Jian says health cooperation has always been an important part of the China-Fiji strategic partnership to boost the development of Fiji’s health sector and the people of Fiji.

Jian says the eye surgeries conducted at the CWM Hospital will bring hope to many families in Fiji.

He says in two weeks, the Minister for Health from China will be visiting Fiji to sign a partnership with our Ministry of Health.

The Ambassador says China will provide more scholarships to medical students to further their studies in China and to train more doctors to provide quality health services.
