Diabetes Fiji are concerned that some people who are living with this disease are not being diagnosed after it was revealed by Chairman of Diabetes Fiji, Mohammed Taabish Akbar that one in three adults in the country is likely to have diabetes.

He says every day people are diagnosed and unfortunately some people have diabetes but are not diagnosed.

Akbar says diabetes is increasing daily and has a devastating effect on many families every year in Fiji.

He adds they are trying to make lives better for people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Akbar says no one can advocate enough for healthy eating and lifestyle, especially after the working group have now become highly dependent on processed food.

He further says that processed foods do not just lead to diabetes but also other non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure.
