English Premier League clubs resume training today

English Premier League clubs resume training today

English Premier League clubs will resume training in small groups from today.

The clubs voted unanimously on the decision at yesterday’s Project Restart meeting.

Players must observe social distancing rules, and contact training is not permitted and this stage has been agreed in consultation with players, managers, club doctors, independent experts and the government.

A Premier League statement states that strict medical protocols of the highest standard will ensure everyone returns to training in the safest environment possible.

They say the health and well-being of all participants is the Premier League's priority, and the safe return to training is a step-by-step process.

Premier League says full consultation will now continue with players, managers, clubs, the Professional Footballers' Association and the League Managers' Association as protocols for full-contact training are developed.

The Premier League had previously identified 12th June for matches to possibly restart but now there is an expectation this will need to be pushed back.
