Suva Muslim Primary School is using its Centennial Carnival to raise funds for the construction of a multi-purpose hall, as the school marks its 100th anniversary.
School Head Teacher Mohammed Khaiyum says the proposed project will benefit the school’s 900 students and future generations.
Khaiyum says the school’s century-long journey represents the stories, experiences and different journeys of the students, teachers and people who have been associated with the school.
School Manager Imran Jannif says the school also plans to replace its 40-year-old roofing.
Jannif says many people’s lives have been transformed by the school, and they want students to fully enjoy the carnival while creating good memories they can cherish in the future.

The school also lit up the stage with a vibrant meke performance by the students as part of its centennial celebrations.
