Members of the Muslim community gathered at Muslim Mosque in Labasa Town to commemorate the birth and life of Prophet Mohammed, with calls for greater love, respect, truthfulness and peaceful coexistence in society.
The celebration brought together members of the Muslim community for prayers, religious programmes, food and fellowship.
The gathering was marked by religious chants, known as nazams and naaths, as members of the community came together to celebrate the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed.
Speaking at the event, Maulana Hanzalah Tull Atqab Siddiqi from AL Hujaz Masjid in Auckland highlighted the importance of the Prophet's values.
He says Prophet Mohammed was a messenger of God and taught values that remain relevant to Muslim communities today.
Maulana Hanzalah says one of the key teachings of Prophet Mohammed is to love and respect one another, regardless of a person's religion.
He says people should respect all religions and promote peace, unity and love within society.
Truthfulness was also highlighted as an important value, with the Maulana saying Prophet Mohammed always emphasised truth when delivering God's message.
He also called on members of the community to avoid disputes and instead strengthen their relationships through mutual respect and love.
The celebration concluded with the community enjoying nazams and naaths, followed by food and refreshments, as families and friends gathered in the spirit of unity and fellowship.
