A man in his 60s has been remanded by the Taveuni Magistrates Court for a case of alleged rape involving his 14-year-old granddaughter.
Police say the man was charged with one count of indecently annoying any person, two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape.
They say the man is alleged to have between the months of May and June 2026, sexually assaulted and raped the victim in their home, and threatened to harm her if she reported the matter.
Police say the victim sought help from another relative in a nearby settlement, whereby the matter was reported to Taveuni Police for investigation.
The case has been transferred to the Labasa High Court to be recalled on July 2nd.
