Fijian bodybuilder Robert Purcell has delivered an impressive performance at the ICN South Island Classic 2026 in Christchurch, New Zealand, winning two gold medals and a silver.
Purcell won gold in the Novice Bodybuilding and Over 75kg Bodybuilding categories, before adding a silver medal in the Open Bodybuilding category.
He is part of a three member Fijian team competing at the event.
Agility Body & Fitness Federation President Elizabeth Maki had earlier told fijivillage that the team was heading into the competition with one clear goal, to win gold and proudly represent Fiji on the international stage.
Maki says competing at the event is a major milestone for the team as the athletes take their bodybuilding careers beyond competitions in Fiji.
She says training was one of the biggest challenges in the build-up to the competition, but the athletes remained committed despite the demands of their preparation.
Purcell's two gold medals have now delivered on the team's goal, while his silver in the Open Bodybuilding category completes an impressive three medal haul.
ICN, or I Compete Natural, is a drug tested bodybuilding and fitness competition organisation.
The competition gives the Fijian athletes an opportunity to test themselves against international competitors and gain valuable experience on the international stage.
