2026 Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union Super Deans winning captain Waisale Bolakoro says their win over Lelean Memorial School was inspired by their coach, who was himself a Deans winner during his playing days.
Grammar dominated Lelean in every aspect of the game, running in six tries to Lelean’s three.
He says without the support of parents, old scholars, students and stakeholders, they would not have made it this far.

Winning coach Epeli Osborne congratulated his players on an outstanding performance, saying they entered the final confident they could dominate the set pieces.
He says they had watched what Lelean could do, but came into the final focused on playing their own game.
Osborne also acknowledged the support of families, old scholars and stakeholders throughout the season.
Grammar looked composed in the final, putting pressure on the boys from Davuilevu.
Hooker Viliame Daurua made a huge impact on the game, scoring a hat-trick and writing his name into the history books.
He was also awarded the Vodafone Super Deans final Player of the Match.
The last time Grammar won the Deans title was in 2001, where the Kuliniasi Naucabalavu coach side defeated RKS 34-10 at Lawaqa Park.
Looking at the Deans finals results, Ratu Navula College claimed the Under-14 title, defeating QVS 22-17.
RKS beat Marist Brothers High School 17-15 to win the Under-15 grade, while Grammar defeated QVS 40-12 in the Under-16 final.
Grammar were also crowned Under-17 champions after defeating RKS 24-15, while Lelean edged Navatu 15-14 in the Under-19 final.
In the Weet-Bix Raluve, Nasinu Secondary School took home the Under-16 title, defeating Saint Vincent College 15-0.
MGM High School edged Lomary Secondary School 13-12 in the Under-18 final.
