Dairo remains banned during beche-de-mer season- Ministry of Fisheries
The Ministry of Fisheries is reminding fishers and traders that Dairo, also known as Sandfish, remains banned during the upcoming beche-de-mer harvesting season.

The Ministry says the beche-de-mer season will run from 1st August 2026 to 31st January 2027, but Dairo is not among the species that can be harvested.

They say Dairo must not be harvested, bought, processed, exported or traded under any circumstances.

The Ministry is also reminding fishers and traders to comply with all requirements under the Fisheries Act.

These include obtaining the necessary licences and permits, observing minimum size limits, and avoiding the harvesting of juvenile sea cucumbers and protected species.

People are also encouraged to report any illegal harvesting or trading of Dairo or other protected species to their nearest Ministry of Fisheries office.
