Residents of Prakash Feeder Road in Naduru, Nausori are calling on Energy Fiji Limited to urgently restore power after an extended outage disrupted the lives of around 40 households.

One resident told fijivillage News that power was switched off at around 6pm on Thursday and was restored at about 1pm yesterday before being cut off again at around 6pm.

She says she contacted EFL's toll-free number and was informed that the outage was linked to the fuel crisis and that repair crews do not work after 5pm or on weekends.

She claims they were told power may not be restored until Monday.

She adds that many families in the area are working parents who rely on weekends to complete household chores.

The resident is calling on EFL to maintain emergency response teams to deal with such situations and restore power as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, in response to our questions, EFL has clarified that the outage is most likely due to a fault and not the result of the fuel crisis.

The company says restoration work on faults is carried out on the next working day.
