Israel has officially opened its embassy at the FHL Tower in Suva.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar says the move demonstrates Israel's commitment to strengthening its relationship with Fiji.
Sa'ar says the establishment of the embassy is a cornerstone of that effort and reflects the growing partnership between the two nations.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka described the occasion as a proud moment for Fiji.
Rabuka says Israel is spreading the blessings of Abraham to Fiji and expressed hope that God will continue to guide and empower both countries.
Meanwhile, Fijians can expect greater cooperation and development in agriculture, water, energy, health, digital transformation, and technology following the signing of bilateral agreements between Fiji and Israel.
The Fiji Women's Crisis Centre was against the opening of the embassy and were protesting at their office which is based opposite FHL Tower.
