21-year-old Suva Women’s Number 8 Amy Peters says her love for rugby was inspired by her father, former Tailevu and Suva player Lagi Peters, as she prepares for the upcoming Subrails Marama Championship.
While speaking with fijivillage News, Peters, who is from Wailevu in Kadavu, says she grew up around rugby, and the sport naturally became part of her life.

Peters says her father played for Tailevu and Suva and was also believed to have been part of an extended Fiji squad.
The 21-year-old has been part of the Suva Women’s team since 2021.
Speaking about preparations for the upcoming tournament, Peters says the team has been working hard over the past few weeks, with a strong focus on improving their techniques.
She says the coaches have also played an important role in helping the players improve, and she believes preparations are progressing well.
On discipline, Peters says it comes down to how players prepare themselves for a match.
She says if players respect themselves and the game, they will also respect other players on the field.
Peters says the team has not faced many major challenges and thanked Suva supporters for their continued backing.
She hopes supporters will turn up at the ground and get behind the Suva Women’s team during the tournament.
