The RFMF soldiers and Fijian firefighters who are providing assistance to the Australian firefighters battling the bushfires are on standby due to the extreme heat and new bushfires in Marlo, Canberra.
The Fijian Government says the troops went through a medical training session including treatment of heat exhaustion and snake bites.
Meanwhile, fire warnings have been issued for blazes across Australian Capital Territory.
A ‘‘watch and act’’ warning is in place for Marlo, Bendoc, Bendoc Upper, Bendoc North and Tabbara in ACT.
Over 18 million hectares have burned in the Australian bushfires, destroying over 5,900 buildings including over 2,800 homes.
33 people have lost their lives and many millions of animals are reported to have also been killed.
