The old Nausori Market complex

A number of local investors are showing strong interest in carrying out major development works at the old Nausori market site which is lying idle for over two years.

Nausori Town Council’s CEO Akhtar Ali has confirmed this saying  they are meeting with Shop and Save Limited next Thursday to check whether the company will go ahead with its project.

The construction plan for the new Shop N Save complex

It was said in 2015 that Shop and Save Limited will start the construction of a $40 million complex at this site however no work has been carried out since documents were signed three years ago.

Ali says the old market site is the most lucrative area in Nausori Town and a number of local investors have been continuously demonstrating interest to develop the area.

We have also contacted Shop and Save Limited’s Managing Director Babu Ratan Deo who says they will not make a comment at this stage however they will go ahead with the project.

Shop and Save Limited accepted the offer in 2015 to carry out redevelopment of the old Nausori market site and that they would also be subleasing the site for the next 50 years.

It was said three years ago that the complex will have hotel apartments, a cinema, conference rooms, supermarkets and 350 parking spaces.
