The newly constructed waiting area at Kavala Health Centre is now complete, bringing greater comfort, dignity, and improved service delivery to the people of Kadavu.
The Ministry of Health says that before this important upgrade, patients and their families often faced difficult conditions while waiting for medical care.
They say without a designated shelter, many, including elderly patients, pregnant women, and young children, had to wait outdoors, sitting on the ground or seeking shade around the nearby post office.
The Ministry says exposure to heavy rain and intense heat made an already challenging experience even more difficult.

The new waiting area, ensures patients can wait comfortably regardless of the weather, offers dignified seating for those awaiting consultation, helps reduce congestion around the health centre and nearby post office, and creates a more welcoming and organized environment that improves patient flow and accessibility.
They say the project marks a significant milestone in the Ministry of Health and Medical Services’ ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Fiji’s islands.
The Ministry adds by investing in better facilities, they are creating safer, more comfortable spaces for patients and supporting the delivery of quality healthcare services for all.
