Cabinet will decide within the next two weeks whether the Local Government elections will proceed after considering factors such as dates and financial constraints amid the ongoing fuel crisis.
This has been highlighted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka this afternoon.
Rabuka stresses the Government has not assessed support or opposition for the elections and remains focused on preparations.
He says the Government remains committed to its promise to bring back the Local Government elections, noting that no elections have been held for the past 20 years.
Rabuka says work has also been carried out by the Elections Office, including voter registration and preparations in recent months.

The Prime Minister also stood by his earlier comments regarding the possibility of a mini-budget, saying Cabinet is considering the impact of global financial instability caused by conflicts in the Middle East and Europe.
Rabuka says rising fuel costs and wider economic pressures have affected people globally, and the Government is now looking at possible budget reallocations to help ease the burden on families facing increased living costs.
