Tolu Young becomes first Fijian to qualify for Commonwealth Games men's 50m freestyle final

Fiji has reached another historic milestone in international swimming after David Young, also known as Tolu Young, became the first Fijian to qualify for a Commonwealth Games men's 50 metres freestyle final.

This is after clocking a blistering personal best time of 22.09 seconds in the semi finals in Glasgow, Scotland.

Young produced the swim of his career to secure his place in the final, marking a breakthrough moment for Fiji Aquatics and Team Fiji on the international stage.

His performance has been widely celebrated, with Fiji Aquatics describing it as a phenomenal achievement that has made the entire nation proud.

His time of 22.09 seconds is one of Fiji's greatest achievements in international swimming and puts Young in contention for a Commonwealth Games medal.

Young will return to the pool for the men's 50 metres freestyle final, which will be held at 8am tomorrow, as Fiji eagerly awaits another historic performance.
