The Naitasiri Rugby Team swapped the rugby field for the streets of Nausori, collecting rubbish as part of a team, bonding exercise and earning praise from Minister for Environment, Lynda Tabuya, who says protecting Fiji's environment is everyone's responsibility.
Tabuya joined the team and handed over clean-up materials, including recyclable sacks, gloves and hand sanitisers, to support the initiative.
She thanked the players for leading by example and wished them every success in their upcoming Skipper Cup matches.
The Minister says people should take responsibility for disposing of their rubbish properly in bins instead of expecting others to clean up after them.
She also encouraged members of the public to speak up when they see someone littering and politely remind them to "Do the Right Thing" by disposing of their rubbish responsibly.
The clean-up campaign highlighted the importance of everyone working together to keep Fiji clean and protect the environment.
