Government MP, Manoa Kamikamica
says Indo Fijians
belong here, they are our brothers and sisters, and they are Fijian.
Kamikamica asks does it make a difference to the iTaukei if they call Indo Fijians, Fijians.
He says absolutely not.
Kamikamica stresses that let's be inclusive and unite Fiji.
Kamikamica highlights that
they have a forum of old scholars who share views with no filter.
He says it is healthy but not for everyone.
Kamikamica says the discussion about being a Fijian came up.
He says when he was in his 20s, to be Fijian was to be iTaukei.
Kamikamica says this was partly because of upbringing, partly insecurity, partly the economic dominance of Indians and of course experience reinforced by prejudice.
He says 35 years later, his views have changed significantly.
Kamikamica says the Indians were brought here involuntarily and have made Fiji their home.
He says they have represented Fiji in sport, government everywhere.
Kamikamica says they know no other place.
He adds do we call Christians Indo Christians, iTaukei Christians etc.
Kamikamica says no, all of us are Christians saved by grace.
He says this is something to ponder about this Easter.
