Netball Fiji has received a major boost after Goodman Fielder was announced as its new platinum sponsor to help develop the sport from the grassroots to the national level.
The sponsorship was announced during a press conference attended by Goodman Fielder and Netball Fiji officials, new Fiji Pearls coach Michelle Parsons, members of the Fiji Pearls squad and representatives from the Fiji Sports Council.
Goodman Fielder General Manager Tim Carter says the company is proud to support Netball Fiji and help the Fiji Pearls reach their full potential on the international stage.
He says the partnership also aims to encourage healthy lifestyles, empower women and girls, and help develop future leaders through sport.
Netball Fiji says the sponsorship comes at an important time as the sport continues to grow despite financial challenges.
The association says the funding will strengthen the pathway from school netball to the Fiji Pearls and give players better opportunities to prepare for international competition.
Fiji Pearls coach Michelle Parsons says the investment will allow the team to improve through better resources, equipment, recovery programmes and nutrition.
She says the Fiji Pearls hope to inspire more young girls to take up the sport and represent Fiji in the future.
Speaking on behalf of the Fiji Pearls, a team representative thanked Goodman Fielder for backing women's sport and believing in the team.
