Vancouver 7s: Uruguay beats Fiji 14-17 in second pool match

Fiji Airways national 7s team has lost their second Vancouver 7s pool match to Uruguay 14-17.

This is the first time Uruguay has beaten Fiji.

They are currently 11th on the HSBC series points table.

Pilipo Bukayaro scored Fiji's first try in the second minute and led 7-0.

Uruguay’s Baltazar Amaya and Felipe Arcos Perez scored a try each and led 12-7 at half time.

Josua Vakurinabili was yellow carded for a high tackle in the beginning of the second half.

Tomas Etcheverry took advantage and extended Uruguay’s lead to 17-7.

Josese Batirerega attempted to put Fiji back into the game however, it was too little too late.

Fiji now takes on Great Britain in their last pool match at 8.24am tomorrow.

The cup quarter finals will start at 3.37pm tomorrow, the semi finals will begin at 9.48am on Monday and the final will be held at 2.26pm on Monday.
