Langford 7s: Fijiana to face France in cup-quarters

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team will face France at 5am tomorrow in the cup quarterfinals of the Langford 7s.

In other cup quarter-finals, New Zealand will face Canada, Ireland will take on USA and Australia will play Spain.

The Fijiana put on a brave performance to finish their final pool game with a 12-12 draw against New Zealand this morning.

New Zealand star Michaela Blyde opened the scoring late in the first half.

In the second half, Raijieli Daveua made an instant impact off the bench to crash over for Fiji's first try.

Alowesi Nakoci continued her impressive form after finding herself in space and sprinting 60 metres for Fiji's second try.

With time up on the clock, New Zealand 7s veteran Portia Woodman broke Fiji’s defence for a run-away try to level the scores 12-12.

The Fijiana lost to USA 20-19 and hammered England 38-5 in its two other matches. They have finished third in their pool.

In other results, Australia beat Spain 24-7, Canada thrashed Mexico 43-0, Ireland beat Brazil 31-14 while France thrashed Japan 41-5.

The cup quarter-finals starts at 5am tomorrow with the semi-finals kicking off at 8.50am tomorrow.

The final will be played at 11.58am tomorrow.

Langford 7s: Fijiana 7s bounce back to thrash England 38-5

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team bounced back to win their second pool game 38-5 against England at the Langford 7s in Canada.

Olympians Ana Naimasi, Reapi Ulunisau and Vasiti Solikoviti were too powerful as they put on an impressive display to score a try each in the first half.

England opened the second half with their first points before Alowesi Nakoci replied with another try.

Experienced half-back, Mereula Toro-oti came off the bench to score a try and set up another for Laisana Likuceva.

Having lost to USA 20-19 in the first pool match, the Fijiana 7s moves to second place in its pool to put them in a better position to qualify for the cup-quarter finals.

Fijiana 7s will play New Zealand in their final pool game at 10.38am today.

In other matches, New Zealand thrashed England 31-0 and went on to hammer USA 36-0. Australia thrashed Mexico 58-0, Canada beat Spain 19-10, Ireland beat Japan 22-7 and France beat Brazil 19-10.

The cup quarter-finals starts at 5am tomorrow with the semi-finals kicking off at 8.50am tomorrow. The final will be played at 11.58am tomorrow.

Langford 7s: Fijiana 7s lose to USA 20-19 in their first pool game

Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team suffered defeat in their first pool game at the Langford 7s in Canada as they lost to USA 20-19.

USA scored three tries in the first half and added an extra try in the second half to seal the win.

Fijiana 7s played most of the first half in defence as USA dominated possession.

In the second half, Reapi Uluinasau sprinted 75 metres to score a run-away try for Fiji while Alowesi Nakoci added a double.

Our second pool game is against England at 7.56am, while we will play New Zealand in our final pool game at 10.38am today.

The cup quarter-finals starts at 5am tomorrow with the semi-finals kicking off at 8.50am tomorrow.
