It is not right for any politician to use the Republic of Fiji Military Forces for political benefit.

This is the message by National Federation Party President and Minister for Defence and National Security, Pio Tikoduadua, while speaking at the NFP Working Committee Meeting at Ba Sangam College.

He says it is not easy taking the role of the Minister for Defence in Fiji because he is dealing with an institution that his ministry is entrusted with, which has been responsible for and used during the political turmoil in the past.

Speaking in the iTaukei language, Tikoduadua says everyone knows that the former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama used the Republic of Fiji Military Forces for his own political benefit.

He acknowledged the leadership of the RFMF Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai and the military for hearing the call of public service that has enabled Fiji to live in this climate of peace and security.

He adds that today’s RFMF is a law-abiding institution that stands for the rule of law and the supremacy of civil authority.

The Minister says NFP is a party that can be trusted for national development because they make tough decisions not for themselves but for the people they serve.
