Two senior members of the coalition government partners from the National Federation Party and SODELPA have raised concerns about the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation's logo rebrand and event at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Friday night.

Senior SODELPA member, lawyer and former SODELPA MP, Tanya Waqanika wrote "Hmmm…rebranding of FBC logo, just doesn’t look, feel and seem right."

She goes on to say "Also, when you tell the nation that FBC is technically insolvent and throw a party at GPH, it’s not painting a good picture guys."

National Federation Party’s Think Tank leading member and prominent lawyer, Richard Naidu posted a photo of the FBC logo launch at GPH and said “Wait a minute Ajay - what the hell is THAT?”

FBC Chair Ajay Bhai Amrit says the Friday night cocktail for clients was budgeted already and he has been told on average they hold it 2 or 3 times in a year.

He says he made it clear that they will only have one cocktail in a year, and the target was 150 businesses and 100 new businesses to be invited.

Amrit says they achieved roughly about $400,000 in sales after the event at GPH on Friday.

According to him $230,000 is signed up already and about $170,000 will be signed up this week.

He says they combined that evening to save money by welcoming the Prime Minister, announcing of the Acting CEO, welcome of the clients, rebranding and launching of a BBC partnership with the British High Commission.

Amrit says if you spend $50 and get $5,000 revenue, it makes business sense.

Amrit made the comments following criticisms that the event was a waste of taxpayers money when it was said publicly that FBC was technically insolvent.

He says this would be probably the last press conference from him for a while as the management team now needs to move ahead.
