The much-anticipated Hibiscus Festival 2025 will now take place at the Suva Foreshore from 20th to 27th September, with organisers allocating a budget of $500,000 for this year’s event.

Suva City Council CEO and Chair of the Hibiscus Festival Committee, Tevita Boseiwaqa, confirmed the dates this afternoon, saying 11 queens have already been confirmed for the event and he looks forward to more youths signing up as contestants.

Boseiwaqa shares that FMF will be the major sponsor, along with Vodafone, Coca-Cola, Fiji Water, Fiji Airways, Holiday Inn, Garden Island Resort, and the Fiji Arts Council, and he is welcoming more sponsors to come on board.

He adds that to ensure public safety, modern CCTV cameras will be installed from the Suva Bus Stand to the festival grounds, with police monitoring live footage.

He adds that these CCTV cameras have advanced features, including capturing clear images in darkness, and are highly resistant to damage.

Boseiwaqa says there will be no VIP section at this year’s festival, unlike last year, as the event aims to unite everyone.

The 2025 event will feature strong community engagement, with awareness programmes on drugs, HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and waste management starting next week as part of the lead-up.

Contestants will also take part in environmental and cultural activities, including mangrove planting, village visits, and community outreach.

Miss Hibiscus 2024, Melania Tora encourages queens interested in participating this year not to see it as a pageant but to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and use it as a platform to bring positive change.
