Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica has stated that the government remains focused on connecting the unconnected and building a more secure, inclusive digital future for all Fijians.

Kamikamica highlighted this at the opening of the 2nd Pacific ICT Ministerial Dialogue, held at the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat where he announced the roll-out of Starlink satellite internet services, aimed at delivering fast and reliable connectivity to rural and maritime communities across Fiji.

He also confirmed that Fiji is preparing for the commercial launch of 5G technology, which will boost mobile network speeds nationwide.

The Deputy Prime Minister says these developments form part of Fiji’s broader commitment to expand digital access and ensure no one is left behind.

He says to strengthen online safety, Fiji has established a national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and has joined the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, giving the country stronger tools to combat cyber threats.

Kamikamica also highlighted the progress in digital government services, including the ongoing development of a new online system to streamline the processing of licences and permits.
