Families across Fiji will light up their homes and hearts to celebrate the Festival of Lights today with unwavering devotion, joy, and togetherness, despite the wet weather.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Laucala Beach resident Deo Kumar shared how Diwali remains a powerful reminder of faith and unity, especially during challenging times.

70-year-old Kumar says Diwali is more than just fireworks it’s about devotion to God, spreading love, and living in harmony as Fijians, regardless of our backgrounds.

He encourages people from all walks of life to embrace the spirit of Diwali by forgiving past grudges and celebrating with compassion and unity.

Kumar says him and his family have been preparing for Diwali for the last month taking part in cleaning their home, decorating, and spiritual rituals to welcome the festival.

He is urging Fijians to use this time to come together, forget differences, and include those who may be sick, alone, or not celebrating.

Meanwhile, members of the public can listen Laxmi Puja on Radio Sargam today at 6.20pm.
